Today catches me at home, in our office... with writer's block. No output thus far, today!

A photo site I belong to has a weekly challenge. This week it is "Back to School" so, it was my intention to head down to the center of campus, let inspiration take over and shoot something for the challenge. Mother Nature stepped in, down came a deluge, so I ducked into the doorway to one of the classroom buildings, and peered out, this is my view! Whew!

The aquatics part of the Washington State University Student Recreation Center. Today at noon I was in the pool finishing up a lap swim exercise session. I'm up to 35 minutes now, on my way to an hour. I hope to make it to an hour of continuous swimming by the Christmas holiday.

I took a picture from inside, on the pool deck, before the Photo Czar-ette (Lifeguard) very kindly informed me that WSU prohibits photos from the pool area... "privacy issue". Well my iPhone app "PerfectlyClear" crashes more often than it saves photos, so that photo is forever lost! Frustrating! This is a fantastic place to swim, and work-out. An amazing facility.

Parking! Today I'm over visiting with the Parking Czars here on Campus. I purchased a "Blue 1" pass to enable me to park, and not pay a "30 minutes for a quarter" meter. The University is a maze of lots and parking spaces along the street, all of which are "regulated". I'm far, far from figuring it all out, but living on campus, walking to almost all locations may preclude the necessity "to understand". It does appear that all this regulation is solely for revenue stream purposes. All seems so silly!

Today, sitting in the office. Had a long, and very nice conversation with my Daughter. Seems we don't make time for that, any longer... we should!

Up on the Terrell Mall, the center (heart) of the WSU campus. Went to the library for the Periodicals, but with all this "electronic media" learned that the "day's news" is not put out on the shelves until 4 pm. So, if you want to read a paper while at WSU, you won't be getting "current" news at the library! The NY Times, USA Today, and Spokane-Review are placed in various buildings entryway each day. The Wall Street Journal, Financial Times, Washington Post will just have to be "old" news, I guess!

The management term "stove pipe" has great life on this University campus!

A trend it developing, here I am, once again. Today it is some writing, and some domestic duties.

At home, being domestic, today!

Today, sitting at my desk, in our office, in our townhouse, on campus, in Pullman! Went over to the Rec Center earlier, just finished up with Sunday morning Pancake sandwiches, so about to fall asleep sitting here, today.

Finishing up setting up our living room. Hung the prints from St. Croix, set up the speakers (Diane did the work, I supervised!) and unpacked the last of our shipments from home. Starting to feel settled-in, almost!

On the pedestrian bridge, on the campus of Washington State University. Headed back to our abode from the medical center, where I just obtained my seasonal Flu Shot. I've been getting these for the past 25 years. The only year I missed, wouldn't you know it, caught the flu!

Location: 46.725575,-117.165369
Today I made a trip back down memory lane, went to the Palouse Empire Fair. I helped staff the American Red Cross kiosk for the afternoon. Nice fair, so I'll be back tomorrow... with zero responsibilites

My day for errands. This is a stop along the road between Pullman and Moscow. Pulled off at this location for the noon shot. There is a very nice bike path (Bill Chapman Palouse Trail) between these two cities, which we've never been on! I guess this was formerly a grain terminal, it sits vacant now.

Location: 46.72159,-117.15174
Sitting at my desk. Actually made the first articles to accompany my time-line, all part of memorializing (story-telling) a career's worth of tales of chasing crooks, in the wild, wild west.

Back in "the Palouse" at our on-campus abode. The tweeties arrived in our absence. They had totally emptied this feeder, for the very first time. I love feeding the birds, and even more, I love capturing them photographically, in mid-flight. This is all the start of that process, I have to attract them, to be able to calm them to my presence, so I can capture them with the camera.

Location: 46.724396,-117.164378
Today, we let Jessie cook us brunch at the Alma Coffee House. We enjoy visiting this eclectic establishment, in America's (USA anyway) highest incorporated city at el. 10,578 feet. It was a breakfast bagel for me, and a spicy Burrito for Diane. Excellent coffee, too, by the way

We are closing up our mountain cabin for the next four years. Most likely we will be putting it up for sale within a year or so. Today, I'm putting "Tek-paper" over the NW and South facing windows and doors, as added insulation against our frigid winds. The cabin sits at el. 10,000' and it is not at all uncommon to have winds exceeding 70 mph, sucking its way through Breakneck Pass which is just above us.

(Happy 37th Birthday, Patrick)

Half-way up the mountain from Denver. We stopped by the Conifer, Co. Safeway store to pick up some groceries for a couple days back at the Cabin. The views all the way up are simply spectacular, and this is a very typical sky, all the while we lived in Colorado's high country

Diane had her surgery early this morning at the CU Medical Center. All appears to have been successful. Dr. Olson will let us know more at tomorrow's post-op visit. Exhausted, we're back sleeping!

Today we are in Brighton, Colorado. Arrived in Denver after midnight, had an early morning pre-op over at the CU Medical Center for Diane's surgery. Removal of the Vitrial Oil put in her eye several weeks ago to repair the third detached Retina in her right eye. Exhausted, we are back at the Hampton Inn for a siesta!

More installation! Doing the shelves in the office, should make it much, much more roomy and efficient to work in. It is a small room, for two desks and work areas, but these shelves will help tremendously.

Today I'm at home, assembling the first of two desks we purchased off Amazon.com. Quite a process, but I'm about done, so won't be long and we'll be able to study at home, in our very own office

Today I'm home waiting for the UPS and FedEx deliveries, and assembling furniture in the meantime. This our dining room table, then 4 chairs to assemble, then two desks, then a coffee table, and 2 end tables. So... until then!

Today I am "personing" the fort. FedEx is scheduled to deliver our office desks today, so this is where I'm holed-up, the "dining" room of our on-campus abode. My MacBook Pro, and my Nikon D90... a tape measure, what more could I possibly need!

The "mall" on the campus of Washington State University on the first day of classes for the fall semester of 2010. Heading down to Diane's office, to walk with her back to our townhouse for lunch. A beautiful day!

The "back-side" of our Yakama Village townhouse on the campus of WSU. I'm on my way over to meet Diane for lunch, at the All WSU Picnic out on the MooBerry Track. I'd stuck around the townhouse for both FedEx and UPS to make their deliveries.

This morning I went looking for Grizzly bears. WSU has a conservation project which involves the study of Grizzlies, misplaced Grizzlies from Yellowstone. Once I finished at their pens, I drove out past the Pullman - Moscow airport, and came upon three of these beasts devouring wheat, here in the Palouse

This morning I went on a quest to find combiners working in the Palouse. This scene, with four of the huge harvesters working in this field was in the vicinity of the Palouse River road, between Pullman & Moscow, Id.

Today finds me heading over to have lunch with Diane at the CUB, she invited Tara to join us. Nice time, can't say I think very much of the food served there, thus far.

I'm crossing "Stadium Way" in a walking fly-bridge. That's the Smith Center for Undergraduate Education (CUE) on the left.

Today, I'm at home. Just arrived home, went over to Todd Hall, met Diane, then to the CUB (Compton Union Building) for a latte. Took some WSU campus shots on the way home. This is our Yakama Village townhouse, on the campus of Washington State University, which we will be calling "home" for the tenure of Diane's PhD program.

So what is life without Hummingbirds! I'm in Henry's Ace Hardware, Pullman, Washington searching for just the right feeder, one that attaches to a window. They'll be close, and the feeder will be discrete; I'm not sure Hummingbird feeders are allowed. Found a very nice one. Perhaps some day in the not too distant future, I may be able to add some photos of the hummers, so enticed.

The most beautiful of drives, Boise to Lewiston, Idaho. We stopped here, Ridley's Market to take a bit of a break, and have some refreshments. It was a wonderful day to travel through this part of Idaho. Also, just prior to our stop here, took some great photos of some Osprey, one in-flight.

Winding down on the "packing" phase of our relocation. I've moved the boxes from the cabin to the garage. It just might work! Our tracking the aggregate cubic feet of what we've packed. Tomorrow morning I bring the U-Haul trailer home, and load it. I guess we'll see how well we've done!

Location: 39.146210,-106.035841
In the throes of packing the belongings we are taking with us to Pullman, Washington. This is the staging area in the ground level (basement) of our cabin. We are keeping track of the cubic foot of the containers as we are packing to assure they will all fit in the trailer we are renting and in our truck. Diane can't lift, Doctor's orders! A labor intensive task, to be sure!

Heading north on Peoria St near I-70 in Denver. We have just received a very favorable prognosis from Diane's Retina Specialist, her detached retina has re-attached, and we are cleared to head out to Pullman, Washington. At the moment we are headed over to Bass Pro Shop to pick-up some ammo canisters, I have some ammunition to transport, so need some additional canisters.

In 2003 we attended the Colorado State Fair in Pueblo. My first time at the Colorado State Fair. The "fair" was pretty much a bust. Not the animals and farm machinery, nor the quantity of vendor exhibits I'd become accustomed to, after many visits to the South Dakota State Fair in Huron, South Dakota. In spite of that "bust" of a fair, we came away having purchased a Jacuzzi for our cabin. This is that Jacuzzi J-350. We use it almost every day we are here at the cabin. Today however its time, well our time with it has come to an end. I'm draining it for the very last time. Kind'a sad, kind'a not... we are both pretty excited about our upcoming adventure/sojourn to the Palouse.

Location: 39.146225,-106.036026
Noon today found me in front of the grill, at our cabin. Those are my "special blend" Blueberry Pancakes. Their smell, with the added aroma of cooking bacon, permeate the cabin... and make it a cabin!

This all started at 2 Eagles, our mountain cabin, and home since June 2002. We are very actively packing what we'll need for our 4 year sojourn to the Palouse.
